Annette noted that there are some 19,000 varieties of African violets worldwide and showed us a beautiful array of flowering species in the same family as the African violet.

Her top tips for growing success included regular feeding, a light position out of direct sun, re-potting every 12 months and ensuring plants are not over-watered.

Annette deftly demonstrated her potting technique using a wick system and special African violet potting medium and showed us how to propagate a new plant from a leaf cutting.
