Penny Woodward spoke to 88 members about tomatoes.

Key highlights included:-
  • In the early 1900”s there were many varieties of tomatoes and fruits – over time we have lost about 85% of heirloom varieties (due in part to commercial decisions).
  • At the suggestion of Margot White (horticulturist at Tasmania Botanic gardens) Penny has written a book about heirloom tomatoes to educate and encourage gardeners to propagate and grow heirloom varieties.
  • The informative presentation covered the many types of tomatoes, the role of insects in growing healthy plants and the pests that harm plants.
  • Details of the presentation or to purchase the book please go to www.pennywoodward.com.au or www.australiangarlic.net.au

Penny kindly donated 5 of her books to be raffled.
