53 members set off on Thursday morning to visit Marian and Bryce Somes beautiful garden, 'Picardy' in Neerim South.
We were greeted with a most delicious morning tea with freshly made fairy cakes, served in the charming mudbrick barn. Some of us took our tea and coffee out to sit under the beautiful white wisteria at tables invitingly covered with checked tablecloths. We were then able to wander at liesure around this romantic French inspired garden enjoying its delights. Roses and perennials are surrounded by fences of espaliered apple trees, and bluebells abound under Birch and Maple trees in the wild garden. A herb and vegetable garden, vineyard and wine cellar have been added, as well as dovecote covered in a gorgeous rambling rose.

Marian has just released a book recording the journey and creation of this delightful garden. More information at www.picardygarden.com.au

Our day continued with a trip into Jindivick to The Jindi Cafe for lunch. We were treated to a delicious roast, both pork and lamb, an dfinished up with a choice of homemade desserts, tea and coffee.

A great day out was had by all members. Many thanks to the organisers.
