The enchanted maze garden, Arthurs Seat

Spring was in the air as we left ‘Chambly’ for a day on the Mornington Peninsula. When we arrived at the Enchanted Maze Garden at Arthurs Seat we noticed blossom, daffodils, bluebells, although the trees were yet to sprout the first of their new leaves. There was so much to see and do it was difficult to fit it all in. There are many mazes and around each corner there is another surprise, from fairy gardens to elephants!

The central feature of the gardens is the Grand Allee of Liquid Ambers and Giant Parterre, planted in 1998, with 1800 English Box plants. Even though the trees were bare they looked beautiful in their symmetry with daffodils and topiary fruit trees within the box hedging.

Many of us braved the large hedge maze and found our way to the Japanese garden in the centre. Some took a longer walk down to the 3D maze as well as trying our hand at the Turbo slide. After lunch at the Dromana Hotel a few people even found time for a quick walk on the beach before returning to the bus for our trip home.
