The morning of Thursday 17thMarch was cloudy and a bit on the cool side as we set off on our trip to Yea. It also happened to be St Patrick’s’ Day, and many of us arrived attired in green to mark the occasion.
Our first stop was in Yarra Glen, where we had our morning tea in a local park. It was nice to stretch our legs and have a welcome warm cup of coffee as the sun tried to break through the cloud cover.
Back on the bus we soon reached our destination and went straight to our lunch venue in the main street of the pretty town of Yea.
The Country Club Hotel was first opened in1858 and has seen many owners and transformations since. The current owner, a relative of Mavis's, had arranged for us to have lunch there.
The bistro had been set up for us and as the cloud had cleared to a beautiful day some of us chose to sit in the delightfully sunny courtyard.
After our lunch we spent an hour or so wandering around the town, admiring the council garden beds, visiting the local nursery and enjoying the sunshine.
